Recap of my Litquake adventures last night (10-13-12)
Lit Crawl 2012 phase 1 - Casanova Lounge for “Saturday Night Special, an East Bay Open Mic, Invades the City”
@zaevans The final reader who spoke was…. LYRICS BORN. Yeah, the rapper. Apparently he has just written his first book, “Yes, Bay Area.”
My favorite quote of the night?: “Dude buying crack in a Prius? Yes, Bay Area.”
Lit Crawl 2012 phase 2 - Clarion Alley for “The Muni Diaries Presents…The Muni Haiku Battle”
Refereed by the (monthly Oakland spoken word show) Tourettes Without Regrets host Jamie Dewolf (slam poet extrordinaire and the reason I chose this event), three writers were pitted agaist Caitlin Gill, the nine-time Dirty Hairku champpion of TWR.
…I made another fantastic choice. #winning
Lit Crawl 2012 phase 3 - Viracoccha for “McSweeney’s Presents… Matthew Zapruder, Amelia Gray, and Daniel Handler”
The reason I chose this event was because Daniel Handler is actually Lemony Snicket, and of course I read every single “Series of Unfortunate Events” books growing up AND listened to them on audiobook, which is in fact narrated by the author himself, so it was so weird and awesome to hear his voice in real life after all these years. The two readers who spoke were wonderful—definitely check out Amelia Gray.

SF | The Color Run 2012
These photos are from last Saturday (7.14.12), when we participated in the 5k Color Run. It was a total blast, and prompted me to go have real running shoes fitted to my (annoyingly high-arched) feet the next day. Yesterday, I ran 1.5miles! My calves are on fire today :)
If this looks fun to you, check out the website to see if the race is coming to your city anytime soon!
SF | EVENTS | Hard French at El Rio
On Saturday afternoon (3.5.11), the gays took El Rio (3158 Mission @ Caesar Chavez) by storm. It was the 1 year birthday party for “Hard French”, a monthly afternoon outdoor dance party characterized by costumes, soul music, BBQ, cheap drinks, and a photobooth (it closes for winter and so Saturday also marked the first HF of the season). We arrived at 2pm and got in line; the doors opened at 2:30pm and we were among the first ones in—good thing, because 2 hours later the line was down the block (and Mission is a very long block). This was actually my first time at El Rio and I fell in love with the back patio area (where the main event takes place). Saturday was a perfect temperature, warm enough for me to wear my 60s blue jumper (MOM: I WAS WEARING SHORTS UNDERNEATH) and cool enough that you could be in the midst of 200 dancing bodies and not die of overheating.
Next Hard French: Saturday, April 2nd, 3-8pm. “DJs on the patio. Hard Dancing. Hard Cruising. “

ART | PAINTING/SCULPTURE : Matt Baumgardner (dad)
My dad just sent me these pics of the new project he is working on—cubes. Check out baumgardnerart.com for more
Andy Warhol’s stomach + my reflection. From the SFMOMA Exposed exhibit…
(Why am I up at 6am in the morning posting to Tumblr? I’m going to go ahead and blame my insomnia on the fact that yesterday I started studying for the MCATs, an anxiety-instilling event. *If you are in SF and also studying for the MCATs, I am taking them in May/June and misery loves company…*)
