Yesterday I stumbled upon Wine Works, a 15,000 sq ft urban winery located in the historic Dogpatch neighborhood of San Francisco. The winery has been at this location for over a year, but the tasting bar only opened last month (see their June press release). The space is gorgeous, the wine is vastly superior to Yield Wine Bar (which is directly across the street—I’ve tried every single wine offered and each is worse than the last), AND if you have the $$, you can go through the process of making your own barrel of wine (Wine Works dubs this option “Custom Crush”; it costs between $6,000-$10,000 depending on which grape you opt for, but ultimately yields >25 cases of wine—so if you have 20 friends (or a successful tech start-up, it’s totally doable).
What: Dogpatch Wine Works
Where: 2455 Third Street (@ 22nd St)
When: Tastings Thursday - Sunday
Cost: Tasting fight = $12.50 for 4 wines
